“my father made me …off when I was three”

“my 20 year old marriage fell apart”

“about 18 months ago I got pregnant, that surprised both my boyfriend and me..at six and a half months, I miscarried. Since then, I have struggled to get out of bed”.

The above are quotes from a book entitled, TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS, by Cheryl Strayed. The book is out in paperback, but first it’s a theatrical presentation at Center Stage, Baltimore Md.

Dear Sugar

If you think your life has been filled with mishaps and misdirection, sit for an hour and a half, and watch the sea of misery some of your neighbors have gone through.

You may have experienced like circumstances, and still battling some of the demons that have plagued your life history or of some people you know.

Your socio-economic statuses perhaps prevented you from accessing professional help. Maybe you depended on friends, with whom you ate, drank, and smoked your fears away.

And then there is SUGAR, a columnist, to whom you can write for free advice.

Kenyatta Rogers and Caro Dubberly, who play multiple characters.

Watching the actors re-enact the myriad of dilemmas may be therapeutic. It is the final play for Artistic Director Stephanie Ybarra, and the introduction of Ken-Matt Martin.

After watching the play, you may want to write to SUGAR; just for the fun of it.
