It was his final album, and perhaps his finest. At most African American weddings, the words, “who gives this woman to be married?”, bring out that smiling proud father, or father figure, who later graces the dance floor to the iconic words and sound of Luther Vandross’s, “DANCE WITH MY FATHER”.
It was the SONG OF THE YEAR in 2003. Two years later, Luther was dead.
This blazing talent, who took a steady meteoric ride to fame and fortune, with unique tear-jerking methods of caressing words in song, died without finding lasting love.
“LUTHER: NEVER TOO MUCH”, is the new documentary getting waves of patrons flocking movie theaters throughout America, and had its Maryland premiere, at the 25th Maryland Film Festival, May 2nd. 2024.

The PARKWAY movie theater at North Avenue and Charles, Baltimore, is on the rebound, with Governor Wes Moore even singing a little Luther, as he officially declared the festival open, and permanently making the first week in May Film Festival Week.
