“I AM SENDING YOU OUT LIKE SHEEP INTO THE MIDST OF WOLVES, SO BE WISE AS SERPEENTS AND INNOCENT AS DOVES” (Matthew 10:16)

What happens when the dove does get harmed, is it natural to think that it will cry and thus die?

The dove has become a symbol of hope. That is what made Noah (the book of Genesis) conclude the Ark was near land.

Men and women “of the cloth” have used the dove as a way- station for the better. Perhaps, that spiritual enveloping is what imbued craftsmen, hymnists, and the least of all admired categories, politicians, to lace their speeches with “hope” for the future. Often these speeches are spurious, compared to the Master quoted in Matthew.

In the light of the turmoil facing us in this century; a writer came up with a dove/hope scenario:

A white king fathered a son, who is black. This child is the rightful heir to the throne, for the king has no other offspring. Throughout the son’s life, he suffered mishaps, degradation, and even prison chains.

The king is now up in years and decided to send for his son. Imagine the chaos when the son is validated and coronated! Would he seek revenge? Would he even kill his own father, and cousins who treated him worthlessly? Or would he be the DOVE the town has been waiting for rushing in a reign of peace and tranquility?

All the above is capsulized in the current play, LIFE IS A DREAM, at CENTER STAGE, Baltimore Md.
