SCOTT EBON PATTERSON
Le Sony’r Ra, “Herman Blount”, was from Alabama. He died in 1993, at age 79. His jazz presentations were the takeoff of the psychedelic wave that hit our world of music from the 1960’s, where rock musicians pumped up on LSD were seeing outer space. Ra did the same using his synthesizer and piano. He and his musicians wore clothing as though they were descending from outer space, almost a picture drawn by the famous artist, Michael Angelo.
So here I am at the WALTERS Art Gallery in Baltimore, Juneteenth 2025, to witness a presentation of AFROFUTRO, listed as a JOURNEY TO THE GOLDEN CLOUD.
