Anna Deavere Smith, writer and actress.
Her name is ANNA DEVEARE SMITH, a graduate of Western High School, an all-girls academy situated just off the Jones Falls Expressway in Baltimore. Most students admitted to that school were part of the crème de la crème of society and are expected to dramatically change the world.
She became a writer, actress, a professor, and in many ways a provocateur. President Borak Obama awarded her the NATIONAL ENDOWMENT for HUMANITIES MEDAL.
She is now 74 and is about to produce a docudrama in honor of Western High. She was at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Campus, on March 5th, 2025. She was in conversation with Dr. Kimberly R. Moffitt, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Osworldofculture.org was in attendance.
As an introduction students debuted their play SIX FEET APART, showing how the PANDEMIC of 2019-21 dramatically changed their lives, forcing them into isolation.
Supervising this creative endeavor, was Assistant Professor of Arts and Sciences at UMBC, NIGEL SEMAJ.

Very nice coverage. .I really liked the interviews. I do think that Baltimore should have been included. So representative of where we are still in 2025. So sad . Poor excuse for the lack of inclusion.
I appreciate that.
